The temperature was around 6-10 degree celcius that day. We were well prepared with our layers of outfit. So no more freezing!
Not sure if those are traditional food, but the taste is quite decent. I think it tastes kinda like bakwan in Indonesia. Bought it for 5元 each ;)
From Wu Zhen, we continued our journey to Hang zhou. It takes 1.5 hours to get there. Hang zhou is a very beautiful city! You couldn't miss this city when you visit China. For me, it is a must-visit city! I am going to give a further explanation about Hang zhou in my next post, with a beautiful pic of its scenery too, because I was exploring Hang Zhou at Day 4.
From Shanghai, we were heading to Wu Zhen. It took 2.5 hours to reach there.
Wu Zhen is a historic scenic town, located in the northern Zhejiang province. Wu Zhen displays its history through its ancient stone bridges, stone pathways, and delicate wood carvings.
Spot that bridge? That bridge is designed to evoke the full moon. These bridges look especially beautiful on a full moon, when the moon is reflected underneath the brige. Imagine how beautiful it is!
We took a boat to see the quiet canal underneath the stone bridge.
That is the waterfront houses.
We also strolled around and walked though the quiet alley of the town.
Then, we went to see the ancient bed museum. The museum was devoted to the collection and display of antique beds. The beds are the examples of the regional style, the oldest dating back to the Ming Dynasty. Let me show you some of the bed.
Wu Zhen also displays traditional crafts like printing and dyeing of blue printed fabrics.
It was late afternoon as we reached Hang Zhou, so we went to have dinner first. We got to try the Beggar's Chicken. Fyi, the chicken is stuffed, wrapped in clay, and roasted. It can take 6 hours to prepare a single serving.
Some of you might have wondering why does it called the Beggar's chicken? Well, there's an unverifiable legend about this dish. My tour leader said that it was because there was once a poor beggar, who was starving. He stole a chicken, and was scared to be found out, so he covered it with a lotus leaf, and stuffed it with a mud. The next day, he cooked the chicken and it turned out to be extra tasty. The noble found out that this chicken was so delicious, that the noble wanted to know how does a simple beggar made such a delicious chicken. Eventually, this cooking method made all the way into the Imperial court.
If you surf the internet about this, you will find a slightly different information about how the beggar cooked this chicken, and how does the noble came to know about this chicken.
So...... Want to know how does the chicken looks like?
Tadah~ the beggar's chicken!
After we filled our tummy, we went to watch the Song Dynasty show. I didn't know the exact place, but the place was amazing!
Pretty lights! Isn't it?
Anyway. It was a very nice show! It has a very nice props, and I am amazed! You should watch this ;)
After we watched the show, we saw a giant Buddha
In order to reach that Giant Buddha, you need to climb up steps of stairs. I was too tired to climb it, so I took photo with the mini Buddha instead!
PS: the name Giant and Mini Buddha was made by myself. I'm not sure if it's called Giant and Mini buddha in real life. So don't blame me if the locals couldn't understand "Giant" and "mini" Buddha when you ask them :(
This is the end of my Day 3. Thank you for reading! I am going to post my Day 4 as soon as possible ;)
